About 66% of freelancers make less than $5,000 per month, 18% make between $5,000 and $10,000, and 16% make more than $10,000 per month, according to our 2023 survey.
About 60% of the new freelance writers we surveyed made $2,500 or less in their first year of freelancing, while about 30% made between $2,500 and $5,000. Higher income levels come with more years of experience.
